Initial Chiropractic Evaluation for Auto Accident Injury

What to Expect from an Initial Chiropractic Evaluation for Auto Accident Injury

If you’re new to chiropractic care, you may hesitate visiting a chiropractor to confirm an auto accident injury. Like medical doctors, chiropractors are well-trained professionals in their field and are fully capable of diagnosing musculoskeletal issues resulting from accidental injuries. At Old Bridge Spine and Wellness, we’ve been providing quality chiropractic care to residents of Old Bridge, Freehold and Matawan for years. Here’s what you can expect from your first visit to our clinic to help you feel more at ease.

Initial Intake

First, we’ll review your medical history to give us greater insight into your overall health and wellness. We’ll ask you questions about past health issues and treatments to include accidents and chronic conditions. We’ll discuss details of your accident and the pain you’re experiencing to help us make an accurate diagnosis of your injury.

Physical Exam

Next, you’ll be given a physical exam to determine the source of your injury. We’ll examine your neck, shoulders and spine and test for mobility and range of motion. We’ll also conduct palpation, reflex and muscle strength tests to see how you were affected by the injury.

We’ll take x-rays or an MRI, if necessary, to get an accurate diagnosis of your injury and rule out the need for surgery. This collective data will be instrumental in helping us outline a treatment plan that will expedite your recovery.

Treatment

Although your actual treatment may start on a follow-up visit, we’ll take time to answer your questions about chiropractic techniques and therapies that may be involved in your treatment. We’ll discuss treatment options, goals and duration as well as possible ongoing care to improve your health and wellness once you’ve recovered from your injury. We can even give you a tour of our facility and explain different tools we may use in your treatment.
